Al Zaeem Team’s Mariam Kamal wins HM the King Cup for junior and young riders

As part of the royal patronage bestowed upon equestrian sports in the Kingdom by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the King of the Kingdom of Bahrain, and in the presence of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Works and Youth Affairs and Honourary President of Bahrain Royal Equestrian and Endurance Federation (BREEF), the activities of His Majesty the King’s Endurance Cup Festival commenced at the Bahrain International Endurance Village.

The event began by holding the junior and youth race, covering a distance of 120km which exhibited wide participation. HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa followed the race, providing the participants useful tips to improve their performance.

At the end of the race, HH Shaikh Isa bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, President of BREEF, crowned the winners of first places in the presence of Ghaleb Al Alawi, Secretary of BREEF, Dr Khalid Ahmed Hassan, Assistant Secretary of BREEF, and Tawfeeq Al Salehi, Director of HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa Media Office and Information Centre, who is also the Head of the Media, Public Relations and Marketing Committee at BREEF.

Mariam Nawaf Kamal of Al Zaeem Team, was crowned first in the junior and youth race of His Majesty the King’s Endurance Cup Festival. Mohammed Al Ruwaie of the Victorious Team came in second place, and his teammate Nasser Al Manaei was third.

Grand Races

The grand races on HM the King’s Endurance Cups will take place on Saturday.

They include an international race, covering a distance of 160km, and a 120km race for the private stables.

Moreover, local races will be hosted too, covering 40km and 80km.

The private stables’ race will feature the best horse condition award, while the festival will conclude with honouring the winners of the 160km race.

Meanwhile, HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa directed the distribution of 50,000 Bahraini dinars to the local stables participating in the local private stables race.

His Highness’s directives come as part of his keenness to support the private stables in the prestigious festival.

The cash prizes will be distributed to the stables from first place to 20th place, in appreciation of their significant role in enriching the Bahraini endurance racing scene.
