Road closures announced in Dubai ahead of Friday marathon

The countdown to Dubai Marathon 2020, has begun and the marathon route map reveals the roads and streets that will turn into runners' delight Friday morning.

The detailed route map shows the roads and streets that will remain closed during the Marathon, 10km Road Race and 4km Fun Run.

The 21st staging of the Standard Chartered Dubai Marathon is held under the patronage of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council, and staged under the aegis of the Dubai Sports Council.

The classic 42.195 km marathon will have three start times with the wheelchair athletes off at 5:55am, the elites at 6am and the masses at 7am.

42.195km Marathon Route Map: The marathon race will start on Umm Suqeim Road and head along Al Sufouh Road before turning back towards the Madinat Jumeirah and continuing down the famous Jumeirah Beach Road in front of the Burj Al Arab for a two-lap loop before finishing back up Umm Suqeim Road opposite the Dubai Police Academy.

10km Road Race route map: This will start at 8:15 am from Sufouh Road opposite the Madinat Jumeriah, and run out to a U-turn at the entrance to The Palm Jumeirah before racing back to the finish on Abdulla Omran Taryam Street off Umm Suqeim Road.

4km Fun Run: Runners participating in the 4km Fun Run will start on the opposite side of the Al Sufouh Road at 11:00 am and finish on Abdulla Omran Taryam Street.

The roads will be closed from around 2am until 1pm on Friday afternoon.
