The Bahrain men’s national basketball team is stepping up preparations for the 4th GCC Games, set to take place in Doha, Qatar from May 15 to May 20, as the squad sharpens its form ahead of a demanding group-stage schedule.
The Bahrain Basketball Association (BBA) has confirmed the team’s fixtures; the side opens its campaign against Saudi Arabia on May 15 at 4 PM. They return to action the following day against the United Arab Emirates at the same time, before concluding the preliminary round against hosts Qatar on May 17 at 6 PM.
Greek head coach Gregorios Vovoras, who leads the senior men’s national programme, faces an early test of endurance and consistency with three games in as many days as his side targets a deep run in the competition.
The GCC Games, running from May 11 to May 22, will bring together athletes from all six Gulf Cooperation Council nations across 19 sports. Basketball and 3x3 basketball are among the featured disciplines, alongside athletics, volleyball, handball, swimming, boxing, fencing, and more.
In the 3x3 competition, the men’s team begins its campaign on May 12, opening against Oman at 3:50 PM before facing the United Arab Emirates at 7:10 PM.
Bahrain’s women’s 3x3 team will also be in action on the same day, starting against the United Arab Emirates at 5:05 PM before later facing Saudi Arabia at 6:45 PM.
