MENA Golf Tour Returns to Qatar with New Qatar Classic

The MENA Golf Tour is set to make its return to Qatar with the launch of the Qatar Classic, scheduled to take place at the historic Doha Golf Club from March 23 to 25, 2026.

The tournament marks the Tour’s comeback to Qatar after last hosting an event at Doha Golf Club in 2013. The Qatar Classic will serve as the penultimate event of the season, offering a prize fund of USD $100,000 along with valuable Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) points. Players will be aiming to strengthen their positions in the Order of Merit standings ahead of the season finale.

Doha Golf Club, a venue renowned for its rich sporting legacy, has long been home to the Qatar Masters on the DP World Tour. Over the years, the championship course has witnessed victories by some of the world’s top golfers, establishing itself as one of the region’s premier golfing destinations.

MENA Golf Tour Chairman and Commissioner Keith Waters described the return to Qatar as a significant milestone for the Tour.

“Returning to Qatar is a significant moment for the MENA Golf Tour,” Waters said. “Doha Golf Club is a venue with incredible pedigree, having hosted world-class professional golf for many years. Our players will compete on the same fairways that have tested the best in the game, and we’re delighted to bring OWGR-recognised competition back to Qatar through this partnership with the Qatar Golf Association.”

Hamad Abdulla Al Mana, President of the Qatar Golf Association, highlighted the importance of the event for the development of golf in the country.

“We are proud to welcome the MENA Golf Tour back to Qatar,” Al Mana said. “This partnership aligns with our vision to grow the game at all levels and provide pathways for aspiring professionals in our region. Doha Golf Club has a distinguished history of hosting international events, and we look forward to adding the Qatar Classic to that legacy.”

The event also carries special meaning for current MENA Golf Tour Rankings leader Chris Wood, who previously triumphed at Doha Golf Club after winning the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters on the DP World Tour.

“Doha Golf Club is a course I know well and have great memories of,” Wood said. “Winning the Qatar Masters there was a special moment in my career, so to return with the MENA Golf Tour is exciting. It’s a true championship test that rewards strong ball-striking, and I’m looking forward to competing there again as we approach the decisive stage of the season.”

The Qatar Classic joins a growing 2025–26 season calendar that has already featured events across Portugal, Egypt, Morocco, and Jordan. Each tournament on the Tour offers a $100,000 prize fund, a 54-hole format, and crucial Official World Golf Ranking points.
