Addabbo Targets Back-to-Back Wins as MENA Golf Tour Heads to Algarve

Fresh off his dominant victory at the PGA Aroeira Challenge, Italy’s Ludovico Addabbo is aiming to maintain his strong start when the Rolear Algarve Classic begins today (2–4 December) at the O’Connor Course in Portugal’s Amendoeira Golf Resort.

The 27-year-old impressed in Lisbon last week, winning by three strokes after a flawless final-round 65 to finish 18-under-par. The victory marked his first professional title and earned him $18,000 from the $100,000 prize fund. Now, in the second event of the revamped 12-tournament MENA Golf Tour season, Addabbo hopes to carry his momentum forward.

Addabbo said the win boosted his confidence: “I already knew my game was in good shape. It was a relief to finally get a big result. The O’Connor Course is long with big, hilly greens, so managing irons well will be important.”

He will face a strong challenge from Portugal’s Pedro Figueiredo, who finished second at Aroeira after a highlight-reel eagle on the 17th hole. Figueiredo, now competing on home soil, believes the course suits his game. Fellow Portuguese player Tomas Gouveia will also be in the field.

Scotland brings another group of contenders, led by Sebastian Sandin, who shared the first-round lead with Addabbo last week and finished third. David Rudd, Aidan O’Hagan, and rising talent Will Porter will also be looking to make their mark.

The UAE’s Ahmad Skaik, who made his professional debut last week after a strong amateur career, is aiming to settle into the Tour. He said the wider fairways of the O’Connor Course remind him of Dubai and hopes to continue learning with each event.

Q School winner Chris Wood returns after a challenging season opener. The former Ryder Cup player is seeking a stronger performance as he continues his comeback to top-level golf. England’s Will Marshall, France’s Nicolas Calvet, and two-time Tour winner Sébastien Gros also headline a competitive field.

The O’Connor Course brings a contrasting test from last week’s venue, known for its many water hazards and a dramatic finishing hole that climbs to a two-tier green.

This week’s event is the second of two back-to-back tournaments in Portugal. The Tour will then move to Egypt for four events before heading to Morocco, where a mid-season Q-Sprint will give more players a chance to join the circuit.

With guaranteed prize funds, fast payouts, and Official World Golf Ranking points, the MENA Golf Tour continues to grow as an important platform for rising professionals.

For Addabbo, it’s a chance to prove his breakout win was just the beginning. For local favourites like Figueiredo, it’s a shot at home victory. And for the rest of the field, it’s another step toward climbing golf’s professional ladder.
