McLaren Celebrates 30 Years Since Le Mans Victory with ‘States of Endurance’ Road Trip Across America
McLaren has taken its racing heritage on a 3,867-mile journey across eight U.S. states, marking 30 years since its iconic 1995 Le Mans victory with the spectacular ‘States of Endurance’ road trip.
The epic drive featured three McLaren supercars—the 750S Coupe, 750S Spider, and Artura Spider—piloted by McLaren pro and Trophy drivers Paul Rees, Jack Barlow, and Oliver Webb. Along the route, the cars made fan-focused ‘Pit Stop’ visits at McLaren retailer events from Monterey, California, to Miami, Florida, giving enthusiasts a chance to meet the drivers and experience the cars up close.
The States of Endurance cars, adorned in liveries representing the Dawn, Day, and Night phases of a 24-hour race, highlight McLaren’s racing DNA and endurance mindset. These lightweight supercars combine precision engineering and thrilling performance, offering not only exceptional track capabilities but also an unforgettable driving experience on the open road. The journey’s route even exceeded the distance typically driven in the Le Mans 24-hour race.
Official partner TUMI provided luggage for the road trip, including pieces from the TUMI | McLaren Spring 2025 collection. Drivers experienced the collaboration firsthand with items such as the Velocity Backpack in Super Grey, which blends automotive inspiration with functional design.
The road trip began at Monterey Car Week, featuring the North American debut of Project: Endurance. Pit Stop events along the way included Newport Beach, Scottsdale, Dallas, Atlanta, Orlando, and concluded in Miami. Each stop allowed supercar enthusiasts and motorsports fans to engage with the drivers and witness McLaren’s enduring legacy firsthand.
The journey also showcased the future of McLaren in endurance racing. Alongside the 750S Le Mans, commemorating the 1995 victory, the Project: Endurance car was displayed, representing McLaren’s customer program ahead of its return to top-class endurance racing in 2027.
Endurance racing is widely regarded as the ultimate test of resilience in motorsport. Justin Bell, one of the drivers of McLaren’s 1995 Le Mans-winning F1 GTR, joined the journey, sharing insights on perseverance alongside a diverse group of individuals including ranchers, astronauts, and world-record-holding athletes—all exemplifying the spirit of endurance in their own ways.
Henrik Wilhelmsmeyer, Chief Commercial Officer at McLaren Automotive, said, “The States of Endurance journey perfectly combines our endurance heritage with the cutting-edge engineering and standards that define our supercars. This road trip has allowed our fans and clients to experience firsthand the thrill and resilience that make McLaren unique, while our drivers have seen how endurance transcends the track—it’s a mindset to live by.”
McLaren’s road car lineup is rooted in its racing DNA, spanning Formula 1, endurance racing, and beyond. The McLaren 750S, the lightest and most powerful series-production supercar the brand has ever built, delivers unmatched performance and versatility, while the high-performance hybrid Artura demonstrates McLaren’s commitment to lightweight engineering, dynamic excellence, and innovative design.
