Lebanon’s Antonine claim narrow group-stage victory
Manama began their campaign in the 36th Arab Clubs Basketball Championship with a 79–73 defeat to Lebanon’s Antonine yesterday. The game was played at Al Nasr Club’s Rashid bin Hamdan Hall in Dubai, where the tournament is being staged till October 6 with 16 teams competing.
Manama struggled early, losing the first two quarters 20–15 and 27–11. They rallied after halftime, taking the third and fourth quarters 23–16 and 24–16, but Antonine’s first-half cushion proved enough to secure the win.
Group Stage Outlook
The Bahraini side continue their group-stage schedule against Libya’s Ahli Tripoli on tomorrow, before facing Kuwait Club on Monday. In the same group, Ahli Tripoli edged Kuwait 76–72 in their opener, strengthening their push for top spot.
Tournament Format
The competition format guarantees all 16 clubs a place in the round of 16, which begins on October 1. The tournament concludes with the final on October 6.
