William Blake wins in feature race
The favourite William Blake owned by Al Nasseriyeh, trained by Allan Smith and ridden by Brett Doyle won the feature race for the National Day Cup for imported three years and upwards yesterday over 2,400 metres and worth BD5,000 in the seventh and final race of the seventh race meeting of the season at the Rashid Equestrian and Horse Racing Club in Sakhir.
Coming in second a length and a half behind was Arabic owned by Abdul Aziz Yousif Ali Taher and ridden by Hussain Makki, while third place a further three quarters of a length behind was Burnett owned by Bouresli Racing Syndicate, trained by Fadhel Al Asfoor and ridden by Mohammed Saeed.
A further two lengths behind in fourth was Peak Royale owned by Al Mallah Syndicate, trained by Jalil Al Mallah and ridden by Andrew Elliott.
Six other cups were also up for grabs - Three for the Arabian Equestrian Services Cup and three for the Al Hawaj Cup Other race results (horse, jockey):
Race 1: Arabian Horse Equestrian Services Cup for locally bred 3 years and upwards. 1,200m straight BD2,500.
1) Caped Crusader/Tristan Normand, 2) Tishreen/A Elliott, 3) Lazzaz/Ali Hassan.
Race 2: Arabian Horse Equestrian Services Cup for all classes 3 years and upwards Arabian horses. 1,600m BD2,000.

Race 3: Arabian Horse Equestrian Services Cup for imported 2nd, 3rd, and maidens 3 years and upwards (fillies and mares). 1,600m BD2,500.

Race 4: Al Hawaj Cup for locally bred 3 years only maidens (weight 55kg). 1,000m straight BD1,500.
