Aleina bags singles title
Aleina Alex defeated Nader Nazly to clinch the Girls 18 years and under singles title following a 6-4, 6-1 victory yesterday in the RJ Investment Holding Juniors Open Tennis Championship organised by the Bahrain Tennis Club (BTC) at its premises in Juffair.
In a very interesting first set, the first seven games all went against serve with Aleina taking a 4-3 lead and then managed to hold her serve in the eighth game of the set to lead 5-3.
Both girls then held their last service games of the set with Aleina coming out on top. The second set was completely dominated by Aleina as she raced into a 5-0 lead after effecting three service breaks and though Nader held serve in the next game, Aleina wrapped up the set and match in the next.
After the final, trophies were awarded by Mirza Al Sammak, Financial Controller of BTC, Khamis Al Muqla, President of BTC and Ahmed Yousef, Secretary of BTC.
Meanwhile, in the Boys 18 years and under singles quarter finals there was a shock defeat for top seed Elyas Abdul Redha who was beaten in three sets 4-6, 6-3, 10-8 by Rahul Jaideep, while second seed Hamad Abdul A’al after a comfortable first set needed to work harder in the second to defeat Rico Cifra 6-0, 7-5.
In the other matches, Yousef Ashraf was a straight sets 6-4, 6-2 winner over Mahmood Dhaif and Yousef Dhaif breezed past Hassan Al Qattan 6-2, 6-1.
The semi-finals are set for today with both starting at 5pm.
All age category winners will receive a free subscription at the health club of Al Areen Palace and Spa and free entry tickets to the Lost Paradise of Dilmun Water Park and many other prizes.
