GPIC continues training programmes for summer students

The Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC) will continue to provide leadership programmes for students of Universities and other educational Institutions as part of a programme to increase leadership competencies, Company President Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery has said.

The programme includes field training within the Company, including its plants and non-technical Departments as well as specialised courses in first aid and firefighting.

In a statement, GPIC President said the Management has developed this Summer Programme to help discover leadership qualities among students, build their leadership skills teach then techniques and help develop a vision for Bahrain added that the programme also seeks to enhance students’ self-esteem and empower them to actively engage within the community.

He said the programme focuses on communication and negotiation skills, understanding leadership terms and management and factors of creativity and innovation. The programme also provides practical training on a number of basic skills such as first aid and firefighting.

Dr. Jawahery spoke about the importance of these programmes, which are a fundamental pillar of society. He said this serves as an opportunity to enhance human ability to interact and communicate with others.

Dr. Jawahery thanked GPIC Training and Development Superintendent Dr. Ahmed Bucheeri and his team for their efforts in arranging and preparing the programmes and training courses, offered for both Company employees and students from within and outside Bahrain. He praised the team’s abilities and competence to assume such a big responsibility to meet the needs of different sections of students.

The trainees thanked Dr. Jawahery and all those responsible for the programme to allow them to train and learn and hone their leadership skills. They stressed the programme had contributed in enriching their intellectual and scientific capabilities.

GPIC, in the last few years, has made great strides in the field of development and training in terms of quantity and content. This stems from the Company’s belief in the central role of education and training to support the overall development process in Bahrain and to achieve the goal of investing in human resources.

The Company also believes that academics play a pivotal role in the training process and the development of cadres of the Company. It, therefore, has the latest and most modern equipment, including a scale model of all its plants.

It also has trained engineers and operators to look after students and other trainees, who are able to simulate various scenarios that may occur during actual operations.
