SPE President visits Bahrain in recognition of SPE Bahrain’s achievements and Growing Global Standing

In a clear testament to the sustained momentum, strategic leadership, and increasing influence of the SPE Bahrain Section, Dr. Jennifer L. Miskimins, President of the Society of Petroleum Engineers, paid an official visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain. The visit reflects the Section’s consistent delivery of impactful technical programs, deep engagement with industry and academia, and its emerging role as a regional beacon for professional excellence, knowledge exchange, and future-focused energy dialogue.
Dr. Miskimins was received by Mr. Faisal Al Mahroos, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Bapco Upstream and head of the SPE Bahrain Advisory Committee, at his office. The meeting brought together members of the SPE Bahrain Board, where discussions focused on the Section’s key achievements, ongoing initiatives, and forward-looking plans aligned with the evolving needs of the energy industry.
The meeting provided a platform to highlight SPE Bahrain’s progress in delivering high-quality technical content, strengthening industry collaboration, expanding student and academic engagement, and reinforcing Bahrain’s role as a center for professional energy dialogue and knowledge exchange within the region.
As part of the visit, Dr. Miskimins toured the Bahrain Field, gaining firsthand insight into one of the region’s earliest producing oil fields and its continued contribution to the Kingdom’s energy sector. The visit connected Bahrain’s pioneering legacy with its ongoing operational excellence and future aspirations.
The program also included visits to the Bahrain Oil Museum and Well No. 1, where the SPE President was introduced to key milestones in Bahrain’s oil history and the foundations upon which the modern energy industry was built.
In addition, Dr. Miskimins visited the University of Bahrain, reaffirming SPE Bahrain’s strong commitment to academia–industry collaboration. The visit highlighted ongoing efforts to empower students, support academic excellence, and inspire the next generation of engineers through closer engagement between SPE and educational institutions.
