Tamkeen showcases Bahrain’s experience in developing future skills

Manama Tamkeen concluded its participation in the third edition of the Global Labor Market Conference (GLMC), held on 26–27 January 2026 at the King Abdulaziz International Conference Center in Riyadh under the theme “Future in Progress.” Tamkeen was represented by its Chief Executive and Deputy Chief Executive for Strategy and Insights, and the Managing Director of Skills Bahrain, along with several members of Tamkeen’s executive management team.

Her Excellency Ms. Maha Abdulhameed Mofeez, Chief Executive of Labour Fund Tamkeen, took part in a panel discussion during the first day of the conference. She emphasized the importance of developing national talent capabilities to keep pace with the evolving needs of the labor market. She also stressed Tamkeen’s role in investing in future skills to ensure Bahrainis are fully prepared for the opportunities and challenges associated with digital transformation and technological advancement.

Her Excellency highlighted key initiatives launched by Tamkeen to enhance the competitiveness of Bahraini talent across various sectors. She also highlighted the innovative training programmes and solutions offered by Tamkeen to position Bahraini nationals as the first choice for employment, in alignment with national development plans—most notably the Government Plan 2023–2026 and the National Labor Market Plan 2023–2026.

In addition, Ms. Alya Al Aali, Deputy CE of Strategy and Insights at Tamkeen, participated in a hackathon held on the second day of the conference. The hackathon addressed key opportunities and challenges related to integrating new entrants into the labor market, with an emphasis on the importance of developing innovative solutions and policies that enhance labor market efficiency and establishing a comprehensive framework that facilitates the effective entry of youth into the labour market.

The second day also featured a panel discussion with the participation of Mr. Amer Marhoon, Managing Director of Skills Bahrain. During the session, he highlighted the importance of equipping national talent with future-ready skills through the development of programs and partnerships that contribute to enhancing capabilities and outlining clear career pathways, in alignment with Tamkeen’s strategic priorities and national development objectives.

The Global Labour Market Conference (GLMC) is attended by high-level participants, including more than 40 Ministers, over 200 international speakers and experts from more than 120 countries, in addition to prominent economists, CEOs, and policymakers.
