Sparkling jewels, stones on display at Jewellery Arabia

The Kingdom’s successes in attracting key specialised exhibitions and the constant keenness of mega companies on participating in them is a living proof of the increasing confidence in the potentials of the national economy and the stimulating investment atmosphere put forward by the government, Prime Minister HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa has said. 

Prince Khalifa affirmed that the Kingdom’s investment atmosphere is characterised by its outstanding ability to attract capitals, thanks to the government’s policies aimed at streamlining procedures, providing more facilities and incentives to investors and ensuring a flexible and open investment climate.

The Prime Minister made the statements as he opened yesterday the 24th Middle East International Jewellery & Watch Exhibition (Jewellery Arabia 2015), organised by the Arabian Exhibition Management WLL at the Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre (BIECC).

Six hundred exhibitors from 30 nations, whose exhibits range from incredible finished jewellery to luxury time- pieces, to precious stones of every size, shape and cut, are participating in the expo.

The Premier cut the ribbons, and officially opened the expo and then toured the pavilions of eminent national and international jewellery houses, and expressed admiration of the displayed precious gems, finished jewellery and luxury watches, as well as the latest innovations in gold and silver handicrafts. 

“What distinguishes the development march in the Kingdom is that it is based on a modern economic vision,” he said, reiterating the government’s resolve not to hesitate in “taking any procedures needed to develop the investment atmosphere in the country and remove any obstacles that may affect Bahrain’s drive towards becoming a leader in the fields of investment and business.

“Bahrain has succeeded in putting forward an advanced infrastructure and a developed legislative and legal system that increases the investors’ confidence and motivate them to pump in their money in the Bahraini market with all tranquillity and satisfaction, the Premier said, asserting that the private sector is an essential partner in achieving comprehensive development and is provided with all kinds of support since all national efforts are focused on providing an investment atmosphere that attracts all kinds of investments.

HRH PM pointed out that the exhibition industry is a unique tool that boosts the economic momentum and provides guidance and data on which the government sets up its policies concerning the diversification revenue sources.

The Premier praised the largescale participation at Jewellery Arabia and the growing world interest in the brands displayed in it, which, he said, testifies to the outstanding success achieved by the event, held annually for about a quarter of century, and reflect the Kingdom’s outstanding reputation in the gold and jewellery industry, regionally and internationally.

The Prime Minister also asserted that the mega companies’ participation in the Jewellery Arabia, and the increasing number of exhibitors reflected Bahrain’s success in hosting exhibitions and conferences, thanks to its highly qualified and trained human resources and distinguished infrastructure.

Prince Khalifa stressed the government’s constant keenness on encouraging the private sector so as to be able to play its role in supporting its efforts in the field of comprehensive development.

The Prime Minister valued highly those in charge of Jewellery Arabia for their successful efforts in providing all requirements to ensure the sustainability of the event and its ability to attract mega jewellery companies, wishing them further success.

Industry, Commerce and Tourism Minister Zayed bin Rashid Al Zayani extended the utmost appreciation and gratitude to the Premier for patronising Jewellery Arabia 2015, noting that the patronage reflected the interest of the wise leadership and the government in attracting specialised world exhibitions and harnessing all potentials to develop the exhibitions tourism sector and increase its contributions to GDP.

The Minister pointed out that the exhibitions industry and business tourism have become a pillar of economic development in the Kingdom, noting that the steady progress of the sector was in line with the goals of the economic strategy of the leadership and the government to promote Bahrain’s strategic status at the international level.

He affirmed that the jewellery sector is given top priority within the strategy of the ministry, stressing its support to Jewellery Arabia through providing guarantee for buyers and examining their purchases of gold jewellery, natural pearls and precious stones.
