The Supreme Council for the Environment, in partnership with the Ministry of Education, organised an awareness event under the slogan “Green Recovery” on the occasion of Arab Environment Day.

The event, held at Al Orouba Primary School for Girls, witnessed the participation of several schools associated with UNESCO and the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) networks.

The event aimed to promote environmental awareness, encourage national efforts to preserve the environment, and achieve sustainable environmental goals through collaboration with educational institutions.

Individual responsibility

The event emphasised the crucial role of individuals in preserving the environment. It sought to motivate students to embrace agricultural practices at school and home, educating them about the significance of agriculture in sustainable development and its impact on climate and quality of life.

In the face of global environmental challenges, the event aimed to raise awareness among students and cultivate a generation that values afforestation and the preservation of environmental resources.

Strengthening cooperation

Dr. Mubarak Abdullah Butti, Acting Director of the Bahrain National Commission for Education, Science and Culture, expressed the Commission’s commitment to strengthening relations between governmental institutions and bodies.

This collaborative approach aims to achieve sustainable development goals and aligns with Bahrain’s National Afforestation Plan, which aims to double the number of trees in the country. Bahrain’s vision, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, includes reaching carbon neutrality by 2060.
