Supreme Council for Health (SCH) President, Lieutenant-General Dr Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, has highlighted the government’s initiatives to ensure the basic needs of citizens and residents for primary health care in Bahrain.

This came as Dr Shaikh Mohammed attended yesterday the the Muharraq Governorate’s weekly Majlis hosted by Governor Salman bin Isa bin Hindi Al Mannai.

Addressing the Majlis, the SCH head briefed the attendees about the health centres’ autonomy project and the pioneering “Choose Your Doctor” Programme, which links each individual and their family with the doctor of their choice.

He indicated that the recently-launched development projects will contribute to creating a mechanism for early detection of diseases, including hereditary diseases and their timely treatment, especially following the creation of the unified electronic medical record, which will serve as a database available to the family doctor to be informed about the treatment provided for the patients.

Dr Shaikh Mohammed asserted that the health centres are provided with the right number of doctors and specialists commensurate with their population density to ensure that appointments are obtained easily and waiting time is reduced, He assured Muharraq citizens that the telemedicine service will continue and be developed periodically.

SCH President expressed sincere thanks and appreciation to the governor and the attendees, including citizens from the Muharraq Governorate’s various towns and villages, noting that the meeting confirms the existing community partnership between the SCH and the citizens.

Governor Bin Hindi praised the strides made by the kingdom in the health sector thanks to the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prince, as well as the efforts of the SCH.
