Peter was yesterday speaking at the joint press conference along with Foreign Affairs Minister Dr Abdullatif Al Zayani at Four Seasons Hotel. “We understand that Bahrain is playing a key role in peace movements and initiatives across the region, which has led to the signing of Abraham Accords. Hungary participated in the signing of the accord.” Peter said he is honoured to be the first Hungarian minister to carry out the first official visit to the Kingdom.

“Middle East security is of great importance to Hungary and Europe as various threats originating from the region. And it is in this regard I praise the role of Bahrain in initiating proper dialogues, accord and partnerships to foster peace in the region and the world.” He noted that the trade between both countries has increased by 40 per cent compared to last year.

Hungary is providing $65 million in loans to the Kingdom to boost various sectors.” The minister said Hungary’s Consulate in Manama has been active in boosting the diplomatic ties between the nations. “We are planning more cooperation in almost all areas including tourism, aviation and oil exploration.” He pointed out that Hungary has always campaigned for a Free Trade Agreement between the European Union and the Gulf Countries including Bahrain.

More focus has been laid on renewable energy, water quality, health sector, education sector, sports and youth welfare.”
