Organising the Manama Dialogue for many years indicates the commitment of the Kingdom of Bahrain to its interaction and consolidation of its relations with the world on the basis of mutual respect, said Minister of Foreign Affairs Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed Al Khalifa. “It also shows Bahrain’s endeavours to reinforce a meaningful and constructive dialogue and deepen understanding between the countries of the region and the rest of the world,” Shaikh Khalid remarked here yesterday.

The Minister also commended the support offered by Prime Minister HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa to the Manama Dialogue and his keenness to make it a success.

The Minister also noted the contributions of HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, to the Manama Dialogue since its first session in 2004 to the present.

Shaikh Khalid said that the 11th Manama Dialogue, which commences here today and runs till November 1, was an important initiative both in the terms of its support for regional stability and for shaping stability worldwide.

“This is achieved through the exchange of views, ideas, experiences and proposals by gathering senior officials, specialists and experts of the world to underpin security, which has become a value more sought now than ever in a world torn by a variety of conflicts,” Shaikh Khalid commented.

The Minister also lauded the contributions of the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) to the arrangements for the event within the framework of its partnership with the Ministry of Foreign affairs. The Foreign Minister expressed hope that the Manama Dialogue would come out with positive results that would reinforce the efforts being exerted for the sake of the stability and security of the region.
