The patriotic current that filled the air has ignited an artistic mind to create an outstanding art piece that would highlight the greatness of His Majesty and the Kingdom as the nation celebrated its 50th National Day in great fervour.

Jeena Niaz, a 48-year-old Indian expatriate, created a picture of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa using 70,000 beads and this rare artwork, which measures six feet in length and five feet in width, is being exhibited at the Mall of Dilmunia at Dilmunia Island in Galali.

“The work is an earnest endeavour to show the gratitude of the expatriate community towards His Majesty, who has transformed the Kingdom into a paradise on earth,” Jeena told The Daily Tribune.

According to Jeena, 71 hours spanning 12 days were invested into creating the artwork. “Original cream, black and white beads were used for the work. Since red beads were not available, spray painting techniques were used to create them.”

Jeena, who thrice found her place in India Book of Records and Asia Book of Records each, has been part of the region’s art space for over a decade now.

“I lived in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for nearly ten years before coming to Bahrain and have been part of many art gatherings in the region. I entered the art world during my childhood, which offered me the identity I own now.”

Jeena said the Kingdom’s art space is widening its horizons and “she is happy to be part of it”. “I am collaborating with many Bahraini artists and since the Kingdom has the best atmosphere in the region to promote arts and culture, many are seriously contributing to the art field, which is overwhelming to me and other existing artists here.”

A mathematics teacher by training, Jeena is presently employed as the head of Bahrain Braincraft Academy. “As an artist, I have to fulfil my social commitments, and this gives me the inspiration to offer lessons to my students in painting and related art forms.” Jeena is married to Niaz Omar and the couple has three children - Ajmal, Anhar and Ayesha. The family resides in Hidd.
