An all-new website is now up and lives for the Bahrain International Airport, along with new norms.

The website, which has a refreshing look, features all necessary information in an attractive manner.

The new page comes just in time for the inauguration of the new passenger terminal at Bahrain International Airport, which will begin operations on Jan. 28. The expansion project, part of Bahrain’s Vision 2030 economic programme, had been set to open in early 2020.

The new terminal can handle 14 million passengers a year.

Mandatory BD40 PCR test

BIA’s new website says that all arriving passengers should undergo a PCR test for BD40 from their pocket. Payment can be made on arrival in cash, electronically, or in advance via the BeAware app.

The BD40 fee also covers a second test done ten days after the first, BIA said.

Exempts children, transit passengers

Transit passengers and children below the age of six are not required to undergo testing. Citizens planning to travel abroad are required to sign a declaration form before departure.

Accordingly, passengers are liable to bear any medical costs while abroad, as well as mandatory COVID-19 testing once they arrive in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

Only passengers, please...

Among other requirements, access to the terminal is strictly for passengers and staff only.

However, an exception is available for those accompanying passengers with reduced mobility or unaccompanied minors.

Temperature screening is mandatory at entry points to the terminal and before boarding, and anyone with a high fever will be subject to a secondary medical assessment.

Arrive three hours early Passengers are required to arrive at the airport at least 3 hours before the departure of their flight time to allow time for additional screening procedures.

Passengers must adhere to social distancing measures at the terminal, for which there are footprint stickers.

Wearing face masks is mandatory for all.

The airport said it regularly cleans all frequently touched surfaces, with a disinfectant team on standby 24/7 for any incidents.

BIA also said that passengers shuttle buses are operating at 50 per cent of their capacity.

Also on payroll, is handrail disinfection systems at travellators and escalators.

The airport will also deny entry to passengers who refuse to adhere to preventive measures, BIA warned.

Robots on duty

BIA has deployed robots that use ultraviolet technology to disinfect the airport.
