Adliya gets a makeover

The capital municipality has raised alarms over the condition of the old buildings in Block 336 Adliya, and owners neglect. Authority accuses building owners thereof laxity and negligence in rectifying the risks posed by their facilities to the lives of the general public.
The continued negligence, Capital officials said, required them to call in the Rapid Intervention Team as well as the cleaning services to conduct urgent restoration works. Authorities carried out the restoration works at the expense of the building owners.
“Dangerous cracks were detected in the external balconies of some of the buildings there,” said Inspectors in the Control and Inspection Department following a recent inspection visit to the area. Municipal authorities had also served owners of such buildings with notices demanding immediate attention to strengthening the structural integrity of the buildings.
“This is particularly necessary as the winter season is approaching and chances of heavy downpours are certain,” an official said warning that such as scenario would compromise the buildings structure causing im- mense damage to peoples lives and property.
