Dangerous substances watchdog committee formed

Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa issued yesterday an edict forming a committee in charge of listing dangerous substances, their storage sites, and inspection mechanisms. The panel will be chaired by the General Directorate of Civil Defence director-general and comprise representatives from relevant directorates.
The committee will ensure commitment to related precautionary measures from the arrival of the substances to the Kingdom’s ports to their stores, away from urban areas. Under the edict, the committee shall also review transportation and storage conditions and all applied procedures in this regard, to ensure ultimate safety standards for all.
