Meeting focuses on executive-legislature co-operation

Following directives from His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, to continue strengthening Executive-Legislature cooperation to better serve the nation and the citizens, as well as to achieve the goals of the comprehensive development march spearheaded by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, a joint meeting was held here today between the Representatives Council’s Bureau, the Shura and Representatives Councils’ Affairs Committee and the representatives of the Government.

Speaker of the Council of Representatives, Fawzia Zainal, led the parliamentary side during the meeting, also attended by First Deputy Speaker, MP Abdulnabil Salman Nasser, Second Deputy Speaker, MP Ali Ahmed Zayed, Chairman of the Legislative and Legal Affairs Committee, MP Mohammed Al Abbasi, Chairman of the Financial and Economic Committee, MP Ahmed Sabah Al Salloom, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs, Defence and National Economy Committee, MP Mohammed Ibrahim Al Sisi, Chairman of the Services Committee, MP Mamdooh Abbas Al Saleh, Chairman of the Public Utilities and Environment, MP Hamad Al Kooheji, and Secretary-General, Chancellor Rashid Mohammed Bu Najma.

The representative of the government included Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Minister, Shaikh Khalid bin Ali Al Khalifa, Finance and National Economy Minister, Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Labour and Social Development Minister, Jameel Humaidan, Parliament Affairs Minister and Chairman of the Shura and Representatives councils’ Affairs Committee, Ghanim Al Buainain, and Information Affairs Minister, Ali Al Romaihi.

The meeting discussed areas of co-operation between the Council of Representatives and the Government, in light of the royal keynote speeches and the Government Action Plan 2019-2020.
