Children summer programmes conclude

The curtain fell yesterday on summer entertainment activities at the Sharifa Al Awadhi Youth and Children Club.  The closing ceremony was held under the patronage of Labour and Social Development Minister Jameel Humaidan. A number of ministry’s officials and children’s parents also attended.

The summer entertainment programmes, which were lined up by the Ministry of Labour and Social Development included the ministry-run social centres in  Muharraq, Sitra and Hamad Town, in addition to Abdulla bin Youssef Fakhro Social Centre in Isa Town. The two-month programme, which covered last July and August benefited 3,298 children, who joined 38 social, educational, cultural and entertainment activities.

The final ceremony which was held at the Sharifa Al Awadhi Youth and Children Club  featured shows in the sports of swimming, basketball, physical fitness and tae kwondo. The University of Bahrain was also honoured for launching the “Water in our Children’s Eyes” at the Sharifa Al Awadhi Youth and Children Club, on the sidelines of the MENA Water Conference.

The minister stressed the importance of the clubs’ programmes which aim to develop children and promote their rights, in accordance with the Government’s policies to build a society that ensures this category sustainable decent life.
