Kindergarten ordered to pay BD1,050 after kid suffers injury

The Court of Appeals yesterday upheld a previous court verdict that obliges a kindergarten to pay BD1,050 to compensate the parents of a child, who broke his arm during the nursery hours in 2017.

The child reportedly broke his arm after he was pushed by another child while playing in the kindergarten’s playground, which was left unattended by the responsible educator. According to the plaintiff’s attorney, Ebtissam Al Sabbagh, the incident took place on April 17, 2017.

Ms. Al Sabbagh said the kindergarten authorities didn’t take the necessary procedures to ensure the safety of the children, explaining that the child was pushed by another child while no teacher supervised them in the playground, resulting in his injury. The lawyer said the child’s father, being his legal custodian, demanded the kindergarten to pay a compensation of BD1, 500.

She clarified that the father demanded moral and materialistic compensation of BD500 for the child, BD500 compensation for himself and the child’s brother, and BD500 for the child’s mother (his wife).
