Sniffer dogs foil drug smuggling attempt
A team of sniffer dogs belonging to the Customs Department were recently able to foil an attempt to smuggle drugs hidden in the front bumper of a car that was entering the Kingdom from Saudi Arabia.
Interior Ministry confirmed in a statement issued on Tuesday that the seized drugs included Hashish and captagon pills, and explained that the incident happened on King Fahad Causeway.
Quoting the Land Ports Director in the Ministry’s Customs Affairs Director, the statement mentioned: “The K9 dog suspected one of the cars in a particular lane and the search resulted in the confiscation of the substances that were hidden inside the front part of the vehicle.”
According to the ministry, the case and the seized drugs were referred to the Anti-narcotics Directorate of the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science, to proceed with the legal procedures.
