Minister inspects industrial areas

Minister of Industry and Commerce Zayed bin Rashid Al Zayani yesterday said that the north industrial area of the refinery and Ma’ameer industrial area would be the focus of the Ministry’s correction programme as they have the highest per cent of violations.

“The north industrial area of the refinery and Ma’ameer industrial area are among vital industrial areas in Bahrain for their diverse projects. But, unfortunately they have the largest percentage of violations,” the Minister said.

During an inspection visit to the industrial areas, the Minister was briefed on the existing projects in the two areas.  He was accompanied by the Undersecretary of Industry Affairs, Osama Al Orayed and the industrial areas team.

The Minister was also briefed on the commitment of the companies to implement the new criteria that was approved recently by the Cabinet and dedication to correct violations.  

He directed the team to cooperate and follow up with the companies to overcome all difficulties and also to find appropriate solutions for smooth workflow in those areas.

The 600,000-square metre Ma’ameer industrial area has around 97 companies, while the 300000-square metre north industrial area of the refinery accommodates 59 companies.
