BIGS a big boost for Bahrain’s green drive

ManamaBahrain International Garden Show 2018 (BIGS) has become a platform for Bahrain to open up new prospects “for those interested in the agricultural field and environment development”, said HRH Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa.  

HRH Princess Sabeeka, Wife of HM the King, President of Consultative Council of the National Initiative for Agricultural Development (NIAD) was speaking during an event held to honour the winners of the second King Hamad Award for Agricultural Development.

“The show that has become a platform for enhancing Bahrain international agricultural standing,” said Princess Sabeeka adding: “The development of the BIGS has positively reflected in promoting citizens’ prosperity, increasing green spaces, and improving the quality of food processing sector. 

BIGS, HRH the Princess said, also played a key role in “enhancing the growth of related sectors, such as manufacturing of Irrigation equipment and fertilisers.”

Highlighting the increase in the local, regional and foreign participation for the show, Princess Sabeeka urged the participants at the show “to establish commercial partnerships to benefit the national economy”.  

BIGS, Princess Sabeeka said, aims to boost agricultural output, achieve relative food security, introduce modern agricultural technologies, encourage investments in agriculture, encourage entrepreneurship in small and medium-sized enterprises, promote agricultural research and create a competitive environment to attract qualified Bahraini labourers.

HRH the Princess conveyed greetings and congratulations of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to all those contributed to the success of Bahrain International Garden Show 2018 (BIGS) and welcomed the royal support for the national efforts participated in the development of the agriculture sector. 

Princess Sabeeka extended thanks to national efforts which contributed to the success of the show and thanked ministries, government and private institutions took part in the show or sponsored it.
