Preparations underway for Ironman 70.3

Manama : Preparations are in full swing for the Ironman 70.3 Middle East Championship, to be hosted by the Kingdom of Bahrain on November 25, the largest event  in the Middle East due to wide participation of elite professional and amateur athletes. With the approach of the championship, the Organising Committee has increased the pace of preparations, providing all the reasons for its success by taking a series of regulatory measures aimed at strengthening capacities in various quarters and working in harmony with relevant parties.

The Committee has adopted the general programme of the championship. November 23 will be the date for launching the exhibition, registration and the opening ceremony, in addition to a brief explanation of the race. On November 24, swimming training will be held, the exhibition and registration will continue, in addition to the launch of the Irongirls and Ironkids events. The race will begin on November 25 at 6:30 am, starting with the swimming race (professional men), then women and age groups. The award ceremony will take place at 6:30 pm.

The Organising Committee has announced the completion of all preparations for the safety of the participants on the road. The announcement followed a fruitful meeting between the Committee and representatives from the Ministry of the Interior, the General Traffic Directorate, the Ministry of Labour and the Ministry of Works. The meeting was chaired by Colonel Mohammed Ali Darraj, Deputy Director General of the General Traffic Directorate, during which all the procedures pertaining to the main traffic control system, including road closures, the championship’s final tracks and safety on the road were completed. The race tracks were agreed upon, and the road management process was discussed to ensure smooth movement of the championship participants. Abbas Mousa Bu Hassan, Championship Operations Manager commented:  “We are working hard to make the third edition of the IRONMAN Championship a success, in cooperation with all relevant parties in organising this event.”
