Works Ministry team visits Duraz

ManamaA work team set up by the Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Minister, Essam Khalaf yesterday visited Duraz village to identify the urgent service requirements there. 

The move follows the meetings held to implement the directives of His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa to identify the needs of Duraz and its neighbouring villages.

The team met MP Jalal Kadhim, the Duraz representative at the Council of Representatives, and Municipal Council member, Fatima Al-Qatari, along with a number of local citizens.

The engineering delegation, representing various service departments at the Works Ministry, was briefed about the need to revamp the road leading to the Duraz Port, the establishment of the boats’ slope, parking spaces as well as a marine pier.

Provision for fishermen’s rest area, shaded ship repair area, guards, service office and other services needed by the port were also highlighted. The team was also informed about the problems facing more than 100 fishermen in the area.

The technical team visited Abu Sobh Coast and Avenue 36, near the Jaber Ibn Hayyan School, and was briefed by the MP Jalal Kadhim about the issues there including rainwater pooling.

Municipal Council member, Fatima Al-Qatari gave a detailed explanation of the issues faced by the commercial avenues in Duraz among others.

The engineering team was also informed about the needs of blocks 540 and 536 regarding the sewerage and road revamps.
