Missing model found in Jordan

Manama : The Russian model, who reportedly went missing from Bahrain on March 3, has been detained and later deported from Jordan for “illegal escort services”, according to international media reports.

21-year-old Maria Sazonova, who came to Bahrain on February 17, was last seen at Bahrain International Airport on March 3. 

The girl’s mother Irina Sazonova earlier told Russian media that her daughter had told her that she got a job as a bartender in Bahrain. The mother also stated that all communications with her daughter stopped since March 3. 

The model posted a selfie with her Russian friend Victoria in Bahrain International Airport on her Instagram account on the same date. 

The Interior Ministry here confirmed that the model left to Jordan on the same day.

British daily, The Sun, which earlier reported that the girl and her student friend are feared to be held as “sex slaves” somewhere in the Middle East, said yesterday that both women have been detained and deported by Jordanian police for working as escorts.

Additionally, the Russian embassy in Amman confirmed to Russian media that the women were deported from Jordan late Monday.

No response was received from Sazonova despite numerous attempts to contact her by DT News. 

However, her Instagram account has been reactivated after being inactive for more than one week.
