Expat's body to be repatriated

Manama: The body of Indian expatriate Gurusamy Mookkan who died following heart attack during transit at the Bahrain International Airport, will be repatriated to his hometown today by Gulf Air.

Gurusamy’s brother Subrahmanyan will receive the body at Chennai Airport, social worker Bahseer Ambalayi told DT News . Grurusamy Mookkan died in Bahrain last Friday due to sudden cardiac arrest .

He was travelling via Gulf Air flight from Riyadh and was on his way to India after renewing his Saudi visa.

Gulf Air spokesperson told DT News that the passenger booked to fly with the airline onboard GF068 on 3rdMarch from Bahrain to Chennai, collapsed while transiting through Bahrain Airport.

‘The passenger was taken to a hospital in Bahrain and pronounced dead by medical authorities’,Gulf Air stated. Gurusamy is from Kokkadi village in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu.

He is survived by his wife and two children studying in Madurai. Gulf Air extended its deepest and heartfelt condolences to the passenger's family.
