CARNATIC MUSIC BY SANJAY SUBRAHMANYAN

Carnatic musician Sanjay Subrahmanyan will perform in Bahrain this weekend.The concert on March 2 will take place at 7.30 pm at the Bahrain Society of Engineers Hall in Juffair. The Chennai-based vocalist is currently riding high on the music charts, having been conferred the prestigious titles of ‘Sangita Kalanidhi’ and ‘Isai Peraraingnar’ . Tickets for the concert are BD 25 for two and BD 15 for one for Donor Seats; BD 10 for one for Reserved Seats and BD 5 for regular seats. 

The concert is brought to Bahrain by Salaam Bahrain magazine in association with the Indian Fine Arts Society (IFAS). For ticket bookings, call 3668 4011 or 3661 9004. 

Sanjay’s concert will once again bring together the virtuosity and technical genius of accompanying artistes S. Varadarajan on violin and Neyveli B. Venkatesh on mridangam.

I have always been interested in drawing faces and people. In this series of paintings I have tried to incorporate both my love of texture and textiles combined with my drawings and paintings. My paintings are built on layers of drawing, paint, stencils, stamps and pieces of fabric, hence the title, ‘Gingham in Blue’ . The gingham fabric is present and significant in all the paintings of this collection. 

BAHRAIN FOOD FESTIVAL

Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA) has launched the second edition of ‘Bahrain Food Festival’. The festival is considered as one of BTEA’s significant events for the year 2017 and will run for a period of ten days until the 6th of March with the aim to attract food enthusiasts from the Kingdom and the neighboring GCC countries. More than 50 prominent outlets are taking part this year including businesses and concepts related to the food industry such as restaurants, cafes, hotels, nutrition, kitchen appliances and many more. The Bahrain Food Festival will offer visitors varied cuisines including Middle Eastern, Western, Asian, Indian, Organic, and Healthy options. The second edition of the Bahrain Food Festival will take place in three main locations-at Bahrain Bay during weekdays from 5:00pm to 10:00pm; at Block 338 in Adliya during the weekends from 5:00pm until midnight; and at Capital Club which is hosting Latin America’s 37th Chef, Gerrado Lugo, who we will be showcasing authentic Mexican cuisine from the north and south of Mexico. 

BAHRAIN ANNUAL FINE ARTS EXHIBITION 43

The Bahrain Annual Fine Arts Exhibition, in its 43rd edition, celebrates the creativity and ingenuity of the local artists. Every year, the art community gathers to present their finest work, uninhibited by a subject or theme. The result is a colorful display of styles, techniques, through different mediums of expression.
