Four women remanded in drug peddling case

Manama : The High Criminal Court has extended the remand of four Thai women suspected of peddling drugs by 15 days each.

The defendants are believed to have sold ‘shabu’ in the Kingdom for another woman living in Thailand and was using the nickname “Mama”.

Following a tip-off received by the anti-drug department, the police planned a sting operation using an undercover agent, who convinced them to sell drugs to him.

The defendants disclosed to the prosecutors that they were smuggling drugs into Bahrain using women’s handbags before they promote them in the country. They also revealed that the money raised from their activities were sent to “Mama”.
