Body of Indian Expat found at Juffair beach

A body found near a beach in Juffair on June 19 has been identified as that of Gireesh Padathalangal Poyil, an Indian expat in Bahrain.

The 42-year-old hails from Kozhikode district in the southern Indian state of Kerala.He was working as a driver for the past eight years and his friends told DT News he went missing on Friday.

His friends were frantically searching for him when police informed on Twitter that a body was found near the beach in Juffair. Police also stated the initial information indicated criminal suspicions. Gireesh’s friends later identified the dead body at the Salmania Medical Complex(SMC) mortuary.

He is survived by his wife Sijila and two children who are in India. His friends said Gireesh had sent a suicide message to his wife through his phone. 

They said Gireesh may have committed suicide as he  was under huge financial constraints.

Social worker and Indian Community Relief Fund (ICRF) member K T Salim informed the dead body would be repatriated to India once the police investigation is completed.
