MPs lauds Ministry for alert on public security

Noting the efforts of Interior Ministry to fend off repeated foreign and domestic attempts to destabilise the Kingdom’s security, the MPs lauded the Ministry staff for their hard work in foiling such attempts and protecting the society.
During a meeting held between Interior Minister Lt-General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa and members of Foreign Affairs, Defence and National Security parliamentary committee on Thursday, it was announced that large quantities of high explosive materials were seized in a warehouse located in a residential area in Dar Kulaib village in Hamad Town.
In the meeting, the Minister briefed the MPs about the continuous endeavours of the different departments of the Ministry to maintain peace and protect public security.
Commenting on the latest seizure of explosives, National Security parliamentary committee member MP Jamal Dawood condemned the terrorist groups, who took residential areas as a shelter for their terror acts.
Dawood said, “These groups are a menace to the whole society. Terrorism has no religion, sect or nationality. These people have no respect for the sanctity of homes or the lives of children, women and the elderly.”
The MP, who represents several constituencies in Hamad Town (where the warehouse was detected), urged the government and the public to extend more support to policemen, as “they are in the frontline against vicious forces that are driven from abroad, aiming at harming the people of Bahrain and the kingdom’s security.”
He also called for speeding up the announcement of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) unity and to extend military cooperation with other Arab countries such as Jordan, Egypt, Sudan and Morocco to challenge the increasing terrorist threats that are rapidly emerging in the region.
On the other hand, fellow committee member Abdulrahman Bumjaid praised the Ministry for being transparent and showing highest levels of cooperation with the council, by briefing them and the public about the latest security developments.
He said that the recent attempts to target the GCC states’ security, based on sectarian division were highly rejected. Bumjaid valued the never-ending sacrifice of policemen in ensuring public security.
“Citizens and residents’ awareness and loyalty to the Wise Leadership will clog the recurring foreign conspiracies that target the nation,” he added, and called for more regional cooperation to combat such threats. He was referring to the recent arrest of suspects in terror-related crimes. During the interrogation, it was revealed that they had got military training from regional countries like Iraq and Iran.
