Suspected drug peddler alleges prison torture
Manama
The case of a suspected drug peddler was adjourned until October 1 to attach a copy of a torturing complaint he had lodged earlier.
The accused alleged he was tormented in prison and judges at the High Criminal Court requested a copy of it to be attached with the case.
The accused was reportedly caught with 79 kg of hashish, following a tip-off to the anti-narcotic department.
Officers discovered he was selling hashish, which was stashed both in his home and car. He was, however, nabbed in a sting operation after an undercover agent lured him into selling 4 kg of hashish for BD9200.
The accused handed the drugs to the officer, but he fled after discovering anti-drug squads surrounding the scene.
The accused drove away in his car and collided with police patrol cars. Soon after the crash, he emerged out of the car and ran, and the officers followed. He was finally nabbed while trying to climb over a wall.
