Rashid Khalid bags Table Tennis youth title

Manama: Rashid Khalid displayed a stellar performance and bagged the youth category title, defeating Sayed Murtadah during the final match of the table tennis tournament, which was held as part of the second HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Ramadan Games ‘Nasser 9’.

Sayed Hassan Mahmood finished third in this category.

Meanwhile, Ibrahim Ashoor stole the limelight in the youth category, takes first place after seeing off Abbas Abdulwahab. 

Salman Mohammed won third place. 

In the Junior category Maryam Al Baluchi defeated Amal Al Noaimi to win the title. Maryam Majeed came third in the same
category.

Abdulrahman Askar, The General Secretary of Bahrain Olympic and Shaikha Hayat bin Abdulaziz Al Khalifa, The President of Bahrain Table Tennis Association rewarded the winners.

Abdulrahman Askar, commenting on the occasion after the closing ceremony, said, “I would like to congratulate the winners for their achievements and praise the high performances shown in the tournament. This tournament asserts the wide range of talents we have in this sport and gives us confidence that Bahrain will continue achieving more honours in this sport.”

On her behalf, Shaikha Hayat bint Abdulaziz Al Khalifa expressed her appreciation to Shaikh Nasser to add this sport to Nasser 9, highlighting that the Bahrain Table Tennis was keen to give its youth and junior members the opportunity to participate in it in a bid to gain a useful experience.

Tawfeeq Salehi, Organising Committee President, also participated in rewarding the players. 

Duathlon race to be held today

A Duathlon race will take place today as per the directives of HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of Bahrain Olympic Committee.

The race will begin from the car park of the Bahrain International Circuit (BIC), and participants will cover a distance of 2.5 kilometers in the running race, before contesting a 10-kilometer-long course on the cycle.
