Bahrain nabs Asian murder suspect in 48 hours
Manama : Security authorities arrested an Asian murder suspect within 48 hours after the case was reported in the Capital Governorate on Sunday.
The 39-year-old admitted to killing a fellow Asian national at his apartment in Hoora on Sunday over financial disputes.
Interior Ministry stated that “the victim used to lend money to people on interest basis”, adding that “the killer wasn’t able to pay his arrears to the man and decided to kill him with the assistance of a friend.”
Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science General Director Brigadier Abdulrahman Al Sinan said, “The suspect admitted in the interrogation that he decided to kill the victim, 47, after the latter threatened him because of his delay in payment. A friend of the same nationality provided him with a knife. He then went to the victim’s apartment in Hoora and stabbed him to death.”
Al Sinan mentioned that initial crime scene investigations indicated that the killer stole jewellery, money, a credit card and passports from the victim’s apartment.
The brigadier explained, “The second suspect was arrested first in less than 24 hours. He said he wasn’t aware of the killer’s intention and also informed in his testimony that he accompanied the killer, who asked him for assistance to withdraw money using the credit card he stole from the victim’s apartment.”
He added the prime suspect was later arrested in Juffair and legal procedures are being followed to refer the suspects to the Public Prosecution.
