Ex-Colonel’s plea rejected in cheque bounce case

ManamaAn Ex-Colonel in the Intelligence has had his appeal rejected after he was convicted in connection with issuing dud cheques. He was earlier handed down two years behind bars.

The Ex-Colonel is said to have issued two cheques totally worth BD375,000 to two local banks, but the banks found later that there wasn’t sufficient money in his account.

The defendant told prosecutors that he issued the cheques to receive financial facilities from the banks. He expressed his willingness to hand over them the money, provided that they returned to him a building they seized from him as a guarantee. He was held guilty of issuing dud cheques in bad faith.
