HM the King's vision credited with advancing tolerance and interfaith dialogue in Bahrain

Bahrain has reaffirmed its commitment to promoting tolerance and combating hate speech, with a representative of the King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Coexistence highlighting the Kingdom's long-standing efforts to foster dialogue, mutual respect and religious freedom.

Speaking during a session on "National, Regional and International Best Practices in Combating Hate Speech Against Muslims" at the Second International Conference on Combating Discrimination Against Islam and Muslims in Cairo, Salah Yusuf Al Jowder, Member of the Board of Trustees of the King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Coexistence, said the visions of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, have established a civilised approach that safeguards human dignity, protects religious freedoms and promotes dialogue and understanding among peoples and cultures.

The conference is organised by the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States in cooperation with the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) under the theme, "Muslim Communities in the West and Their Role in Combating Islamophobia."

Al Jowder stressed that hate speech often begins with stereotypes and prejudice before escalating into discrimination and exclusion. He said strengthening the values of human dignity and mutual respect, alongside the complementary roles of families, educational institutions, places of worship, media organisations, legislative bodies and civil society, is essential to promoting coexistence and reinforcing social cohesion.

He added that Bahrain presents a leading model in advancing tolerance and peaceful coexistence through a deeply rooted national approach, reflected in the programmes, initiatives and international partnerships of the King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Coexistence. These efforts, he said, reduce hate speech, foster mutual understanding and build more cohesive and harmonious societies.
