Doctor Wins Compensation Over Unlawful Salary Deductions
Hospital Ordered to Repay Deductions and Leave Benefits

The First High Labour Court ordered a private hospital to pay more than BD2,854 to a consultant anaesthesiologist after ruling that salary and housing allowance deductions were made unlawfully.
The court awarded BD1,021.4 for unlawful deductions and BD1,833 for accrued annual leave, while also granting compensation for delayed payment of the doctor’s entitlements and ordering the hospital to cover legal costs.
The hospital had argued that the doctor had settled his dues and that leave pay should be based only on his basic salary, but the court found the evidence insufficient.
