June Inflation Hits 2.3% in Bahrain
Annual inflation rate rose by 2.3 per cent in June 2026 compared with the same month last year, driven mainly by higher transport and food prices, according to the latest Consumer Price Index (CPI) released by the Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA).
Transport recorded the largest annual increase among all major categories, rising 10.6 per cent, making it the biggest contributor to overall inflation.
Food and non-alcoholic beverages followed with a 5.8 per cent increase, while miscellaneous goods and services rose 3.3 per cent and education increased 2.8 per cent.
In contrast, clothing and footwear recorded the steepest annual decline, falling 12.6 per cent compared with June 2025.
Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels decreased by 2.2 per cent, while furnishings, household equipment and routine home maintenance fell 1.2 per cent.
Smaller declines were also recorded in recreation and culture, and alcoholic beverages and tobacco, both down 0.6 per cent. Communication and restaurants and hotels each slipped 0.3 per cent, while health costs edged down 0.2 per cent.
