Bahrain Reaffirms Sustainable Development Commitment

 

Bahrain has reaffirmed its commitment to advancing sustainable development and achieving the United Nations’ 2030 Sustainable Development Goals during the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development held at UN Headquarters in New York.

Minister of Sustainable Development and Chief Executive of the Bahrain Economic Development Board, Noor bint Ali Al Khalif, participated in the opening session of the ministerial segment of the forum, in the presence of Bahrain’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York, Ambassador Jamal Fares Al Rowai.

Addressing the general debate under the theme “Better Together: Accelerating Urgent and Transformative Action to Achieve Sustainable Development Goals by 2030,” Al Khalif delivered Bahrain’s national statement, highlighting the Kingdom’s ongoing efforts to implement development programmes aligned with the 2030 Agenda.

She said Bahrain, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, continues to pursue comprehensive development strategies focused on sustainability, innovation and long-term growth.

Al Khalif highlighted Bahrain’s development model, which prioritises investment in human capital as a key driver of progress, while preserving the Kingdom’s historical heritage and national identity. She also emphasised efforts to build a diversified and sustainable economy based on innovation, partnerships and future-oriented policies.

The minister further noted Bahrain’s commitment to strengthening readiness for future challenges through economic, social and environmental initiatives designed to support sustainable development.

During her remarks, Al Khalif also addressed the recent Iranian attacks targeting civilians and vital infrastructure in Bahrain, stressing that the Kingdom has prioritised the safety and security of citizens and residents while ensuring the continuity of essential services, including healthcare.

She affirmed that Bahrain remains committed to protecting lives, preserving national achievements and advancing sustainable development despite regional challenges, in line with the principle of “leaving no one behind.”
