Bahrain also welcomed the U.S.–Iran Memorandum of Understanding, backing continued efforts toward a peaceful and sustainable resolution of the Iranian crisis. The Ministry stressed that any deal must ensure Iran respects the sovereignty of neighbouring states, refrains from supporting militant proxies, and guarantees freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.
The Kingdom said such a resolution would serve the stability of international trade and global energy and food supplies, in line with international law and the United Nations Charter.
Before arriving in Bahrain, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio began his Gulf tour in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday. Discussions with Emirati leaders focused on the implications of the U.S.-brokered ceasefire framework with Tehran and broader regional security concerns in its aftermath.
From Abu Dhabi, Rubio travelled to Kuwait, continuing consultations with Gulf partners who have expressed concern over the emerging U.S.-Iran understanding. Key issues across the visits included Iran’s proxy networks, its ballistic missile programme, and maritime security in the Strait of Hormuz, all of which remain unresolved under the current framework.
