Education Minister Congratulates First MYP Cohort Families

More Than 3,000 Students Took Part in MYP Assessments

Education Minister Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma has congratulated the parents of students selected for the first cohort of the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (MYP), describing the announcement as a major milestone in Bahrain’s educational development.

The minister said the launch of the programme represents a significant qualitative achievement and a historic step that will be recorded as one of the most important milestones in the advancement of education in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

Dr. Juma extended his congratulations to the parents of the first cohort, expressing pride in the students’ strong competitive results and their ability to excel throughout the various stages of assessment. He also praised parents for their continuous support, encouragement, and close involvement in their children’s academic journey.

The minister noted that the assessment process for admission to the International Baccalaureate programme was rigorous and challenging, requiring students to demonstrate advanced academic capabilities. He said the Ministry of Education designed the selection process to ensure that the first cohort is well prepared for the next stage of study, which differs significantly from the traditional educational pathway.

The programme is set to begin from Grade 8 (Second Intermediate) in the upcoming academic year.

Dr. Juma also commended all students who participated in the assessment process from its inception, noting that more than 3,000 students from intermediate schools across Bahrain took part. He thanked their parents for embracing the challenge alongside their children and contributing to the successful launch of the internationally recognised educational programme.

The minister is scheduled to meet the parents of students in the first MYP cohort on Sunday, June 21, 2026, at the Ministry of Education Hall in Isa Town.
