Khalifa Bin Salman Port climbs to 19th globally in container port rankings

Khalifa Bin Salman Port has advanced to 19th place worldwide in the latest Container Port Performance Index (CPPI), placing it among the world’s top-performing container ports and marking a significant milestone for Bahrain’s maritime sector.
The port, operated by APM Terminals Bahrain, was also recognised as one of the top five ports globally for improvements in operational efficiency during the assessment period.
The annual CPPI, published by the World Bank and S&P Global Market Intelligence, is an independent global benchmark that measures the efficiency of container ports. The index assesses the total time vessels spend in port, from arrival to departure, while accounting for differences in vessel size and shipping operations.
APM Terminals Bahrain said the result reflects close cooperation among stakeholders across the port community, including the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications, the Ports and Maritime Affairs Directorate, Customs Affairs, maritime service providers and logistics partners.
