Bahrain Ensures Religious Freedoms

The Chairman of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), Ali Ahmed Al Derazi, stressed the importance of coordination and dialogue ahead of the Ashoora season in Bahrain.
Al Derazi highlighted key points discussed during the annual meeting chaired by General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior, with officials and representatives of maatams across the Kingdom. The meeting focused on preparations for the religious season and ensuring proper arrangements across governorates.
He said the discussions reflected Bahrain’s commitment to strengthening cooperation between official bodies and community stakeholders, while ensuring that religious observance is carried out within a framework that safeguards public order and legal compliance.
Al Derazi added that the NIHR has, over recent years, monitored Ashoora-related activities and observed continued facilitation of religious practices for citizens, residents, and inmates in rehabilitation centres under established regulations.
