Firebomb hurler’s appeal gets rejected

A Bahraini defendant, convicted of attacking a police officer with firebombs, has had his appeal rejected.

The convict, aged 25, was earlier sentenced to five years behind bars for his crime. He was alleged to be part of a mob of 50 vandals who rioted near Umm Al Hassam police station on August 19, 2012. They allegedly pelted Molotov cocktails against police officers after setting tyres on fire.

A victim suffered burn wounds after a petrol bomb hit him.

A police patrol was damaged during the attack, according to court files.

The defendant’s fingerprints were found on one of the firebombs, and he was busted.

He was held guilty of arson, damaging a police patrol, injuring a police officer as well as endangering lives and property.
