In a heartbreaking case that shook the community, the Court of Cassation has upheld the rulings of both the lower and appellate courts, sentencing a Bahraini man in his twenties to nine years in prison over a devastating traffic accident that claimed the lives of an entire family.
The court also ordered the revocation of his driving license for one year following the completion of his sentence, along with the confiscation of the vehicle used in the incident.
The tragedy unfolded in the Saar area, where the defendant, driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol, caused a catastrophic collision that killed a husband, his wife, and their child, while leaving two other children with severe, life-threatening injuries.
According to prosecutors, on May 30, 2025, the accused lost control of his vehicle while under the influence of hashish and alcohol.
Speeding
His reckless driving included speeding over 30% above the legal limit, dangerously overtaking, and veering into oncoming traffic—ultimately leading to a fatal head-on collision. At approximately 12:21 AM, the defendant was traveling along Road 13 toward Saar when he suddenly swerved into the opposite lane. He collided head-on with a taxi driven by the father, who was traveling lawfully with his family. The sheer force of the crash pushed the vehicle backward into an embankment.

The impact proved fatal. The parents and their son succumbed to their injuries after being rushed to the hospital.
