Family in Mourning as Bangladeshi Expat Dies in Bahrain Missile Attack
The family of a Bangladeshi expatriate is in mourning after he was killed early Sunday when debris from an intercepted drone struck him during an Iranian missile attack in Manama.
The deceased, Abul Mohsin Tarek, 48, was a resident of Paharer Go Mosjid area under Azimpur union in Sandwip upazila, Chattogram. His wife and only daughter live in a rented home in Chattogram city’s Boubazar area.
The incident took place at around 3:30 a.m. in the RC Drydock area of Salman Industrial City, where Tarek worked as a supervisor. He was immediately taken to a nearby hospital, but doctors declared him dead on arrival. His body is currently being held at a local hospital morgue under state security.
Tarek’s cousin, Mosharraf Hossain, deputy director of Chattogram Maa O Shishu Hospital, said relatives in Bahrain informed the family of the tragedy shortly after it occurred. He explained that Tarek’s workplace was situated near a US military base and that fragments from a drone, destroyed by Bahrain’s air defense system, struck him, killing him instantly.
Family members have been in contact with officials from the company where Tarek was employed. The company expressed condolences on behalf of both itself and the Bahraini government and confirmed that all necessary procedures to repatriate his body would be completed swiftly.
Tarek had been working in Bahrain for 27 years, providing for his family back home. Relatives described him as a dedicated father and husband whose sudden death has left a deep void in their lives.
Authorities in Bahrain have assured continued vigilance in ensuring public safety as tensions in the region remain high.
